How It Works
Description
The Leesburg Hero Hunt is intended to be a fun, family-friendly activity appropriate for all ages. The event helps raise money for life-saving rescue squad operations, and we also hope that it will help bring our community together.
Teams
Teams can consist of up to 5 people, and kids under 10 are not counted against the total. Registration for the 2021 Hero Hunt is now closed.
What do you need?
A smartphone and comfortable walking shoes or other mode of transportation around downtown Leesburg.
Clues
Clues will be in the form of riddles, picture puzzles, anagrams, questions about local locations, or other brain-teasers. Some clues involve going to a specific location to find information, pick up an item, or take a photo. You may also need to watch an online video to get answers, so make sure you have that capability.
Many clues will require visiting various locations in downtown Leesburg, so it's up to you how to manage your time in order to visit the most places. The furthest two points you may need to visit are approximately 1 mile walking distance.
On the day
On May 15th, the day of the event, come to the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad station (143 Catoctin Circle SE, Leesburg, VA 20175) for the kickoff event. Gates open at 12:30PM! Please make sure to stay in your car in order to preserve social distancing and maximize safety.
At 1PM, you will be handed a packet with further instructions and a list of the Hero Hunt clues. Then, your team will have until 3PM to solve as many clues as you can!
Winners will be announced at 4PM via a livestream accessible here.
Prizes
All participating teams will receive a goody bag of prizes, and the top scoring team will win a special prize!
